My “1900 Park Fare” [+Gluten Free] Review!

We went to “1900 Park Fare” for a character breakfast last time we visited The World. Upon arrival we were quickly seated, we got a round table in the middle of the restaurant. Breakfast was served “buffet style”, though some of our gluten free options were specially made and delivered to the table. Within a few minutes of being seated we had the chef come to our table and explain what we could have from the buffet, he also offered to make us Eggs Benedict and Mickey Waffles.

We ended up opting to try both. The waffles were really good! Slightly crispy on the outside but really soft on the inside. The Eggs Benedict was ok. It wasn’t prepared on a GF English muffin, I think it was some kind of roll. We found it to be kind of dry, it did have all the other normal ingredients.

Other things we were able to have GF were: Fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, and yogurt. The remaining members of our party that could partake in all items from the buffet were able to enjoy corned beef hash and an assortment of pastries as well.

Some characters that we were visited by were:

Mary Poppins.

Tigger.

Alice.

We also saw Winnie the Pooh and the Mad Hatter. Each character spent a good amount of time with our table. Both kids in our party got autographs and photos, and the baby got pictures with each character as well.

Over all, the experience was pretty decent. It’s not currently on my list to re-visit “1900 Park Fare”.

The Best of Downtown Disney [Now Known as Disney Springs]

A Disney vacation isn’t complete without a trip to Disney Springs. Getting there is easy, too. Just a short bus ride or, from select locations… a short ferry ride! There’s definitely not a shortage of things to do.

Some of the most fantastic toy stores exist here! They also have a huge candy store, delicious ice cream shop, and over a dozen restaurants.

Some of my favorites:

Restaurants: Cookes Of Dublin, T-Rex’s

Stores: Once Upon a Toy, The Lego Store, World Of Disney

Dessert Shops: Ghiradelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop

A few other notable things in Disney Springs…

  • Cirque Du Soleil Show
  • Splitsville Bowling
  • DisneyQuest
  • AMC Movie Theatre

& don’t forget your camera! There are many photo opportunities to be had.

10 Things to Buy BEFORE Arriving at Disney…

One thing I have learned through years of going to Disney is that it can cost a pretty penny! I’m all about finding ways to cut the cost without skimping on my vacation. The following are things that I feel you should purchase ahead of time to save yourself some money:

    • Bottled Water

    • Rain Ponchos

    • Sharpies for Autographs

    • Disney Lanyard for Pin Collecting

    • Disney Baseball Cap

    • Folding Pocket Blanket

    • Granola Bars

    • Sunglasses

    • Diapers

    • Swim Diapers

Did you know? You can have items delivered to your resort via Amazon (or other online retailers) and pick them up at the front desk upon arrival! This is especially helpful with the weight limits associated with baggage. You can find the address for your resort on each resorts website.

The Many Faces of Cinderella’s Castle..

One of the most iconic parts of Magic Kingdom is Cinderella’s castle. When you walk down Main Street USA, it’s the first thing you focus in on. With its beautiful gray and blue peaks, it’s the center of many family photos. But did you know, depending on the time of day, time of year or holiday the castle can take on a completely different look?

This is a view of the castle during the Christmas season donned in Christmas lights and a blue hue.

A shot of the castle during 10pm fireworks, lit up like sorcerer Mickey’s hat.

A shot of the castle lit up after dark.

It has also been dressed up like a birthday cake, decorated in gold and even toilet papered by Stitch! What’s your favorite way to see the castle?

My Review of Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside…

I have stayed at this resort a few times now. It’s truly one of my favorites! The grounds are beautifully manicured with paths winding through for easy access to all of the amenities they offer. The resort has over 2,000 rooms, so it is quite large! On Disney’s scale it is considered a moderate level resort.

The Pool:

The resort features a few pools, but our favorite is the “Ol’ Man Island” pool with a slide.

Transportation:

POR: Riverside has the regular bus transportation that all Disney resorts include, but it also has a water taxi that you can take to Downtown Disney. It winds you past some of the other resorts Disney has to offer, and gives you a different view of the grounds.

Dining:

This resort features the restaurant Boatwright’s Dining Hall. We have eaten here and found the food to be excellent. I had a steak and my husband had the catfish, both of which we would order again in a heartbeat. Also available for dining options here is a food court. We utilized this during breakfast time!

[One thing we haven’t done here is the horse drawn carriage ride! It’s definitely on my list of “to-do’s”, though]

This one is a resort I would stay at again, I find it to be one of the better ones Disney has to offer.

Starting the Day in Magic Kingdom❤️

One of my favorite ways to start my day in WDW is opening up Magic Kingdom bright and early! The whole park comes alive before your eyes as they open the park with song and dance. The smell of fresh baked goods and candy on Main Street always puts me in a Disney mood.

My first stop is usually at Starbucks for a cup of coffee.

Once I’ve had my morning dose of caffeine, I’m ready to tackle Tommorow Land.

Counting down the days to my next MK morning!

My Favorite [Gluten Free] Character Breakfast at Disney…

My family and I have had the opportunity to eat at a good selection of character breakfasts’ while visiting WDW since I cut gluten. While they all are pretty good, I have found one to continue to be above the rest!

‘Ohana at the Polynesian Resort is a Hawaiian themed restaurant where the food is served family style. This would usually be a problem with the gluten free restriction, but the kitchen staff prepares your food and serves it family style as well! I was able to have gluten free waffles, sausage & bacon and a really good guava fruit juice. I probably could have gotten full on the juice alone, it was amazing.

We were visited by Lilo, Stitch, Pluto & Mickey.

The characters gave enough time for each of the kids in our group to have an autograph and picture. One thing to note about this particular restaurant, it’s kind of dark! So as far as pictures go, I had a harder time getting great ones.

At the end of breakfast, all the characters got up and took the kids around the restaurant in a conga line. The interaction at this restaurant between the characters and the kids was definitely more than others we’ve been to and I thought that was really great.

Between the great food, the superb staff and character interaction… This is my favorite character breakfast.

10 Things to Bring into the Disney Parks with a Baby…

Packing for Disney with a baby can be overwhelming, I’ve been there! After enough “why didn’t I think of that” moments, I’ve got a top 10 list of things I think everyone with a baby should bring but might not think of.

  • Rain Cover For Stroller
  • Baby First Aid Kit
  • Extra Diapers *
  • Clip-On Stroller Fan
  • Picnic Blanket
  • Sun Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Hand Sanitizer Wipes
  • Bottle Cooler Bag
  • Diaper Changing Pad

*Disney does have Baby Care Centers with diapers for purchase, but I have found they don’t have diapers smaller than size 3.

With the addition of these items to my packing list, we’ve enjoyed our time in the parks so much more!

The much anticipated Fall 2016 dates have been released for Disney’s free dining plan. Earlier last week, dates were put up briefly only to be taken down shortly there after. These ones look like they’re here to stay! The following dates are what is included for the Fall 2016 FDP:
